The Leadership Committee for the Extend the Light Campaign worked with professionals in assessing the scope of the construction and renovation needs for MorningStar Renewal Center. They determined that the total estimated cost to pay off the note on the property and completely upgrade, renovate and furnish the entire complex was approximately $10,000,000.

The campaign leadership believes that a major injection of capital dollars must be raised. Voluntary gifts and grants from a wide-range of individuals, foundations and organizations are being sought without affecting existing parish or Archdiocesan fundraising efforts.

• All fifty-five guest rooms need renovation and the addition of private bathroom facilities.
  
  
• Additional conference areas will allow more flexibility in programming.
  
  
• The dining room will be expanded into the existing meeting and chapel space.
  
  
• A new and more spacious Chapel is to be built.
  
  
• In the Chapel courtyard a Wall of Blessings is planned to recognize donors contributing to the restoration of the Center.
  
  
• The grounds are extremely important for a prayerful environment. Several meditation gardens are planned as suitable areas for individual prayer and small group discussion. Groups and individuals will enjoy the paved prayer walks and the shady spots for quiet contemplation. Appropriate and inspirational artwork will adorn the grounds helping to foster an enriching environment of prayer and reflection.
  
  
• Finally, to make MorningStar financially feasible in the future, a $5,000,000 general purpose endowment will be established. The intent is to provide for general maintenance, and to reduce the cost of retreat experiences to individuals making opportunities for ongoing spiritual growth and renewal accessible to all. The full endowment amount raised will be invested by fund managers and, after one year of being fully invested the earnings will be used for the stated purposes.
