May 9th, 2004 - Dominican Sisters pass on the flame of faith and service:
During their appreciation send-off celebration, the Dominican sisters presented to the staff of MorningStar, a special candle of St. Dominic that had been lit in their chapel. It served as a symbol of passing on the reigns of ministry to South Florida from the Dominican Retreat House to MorningStar Renewal Center.

 

 


May 27th -- It's Official! - New Sign Installed:
The new sign goes up at the renewal center marking the beginning of a new ministry on the sacred grounds that had been occupied by the Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine di Ricci for the past 43 years.

 

 


Archbishop Favalora attends Brunch:
On June 1st, 2004 MorningStar opened its doors for its first official guests: Archbishop Favalora and many of the priests of the South Dade Deanery attended an informational brunch learning about the mission and vision of MorningStar.

 

 


Inaugural Holy Hour _ June 9th
Over 400 people celebrated an inaugural blessing of the ministry of MorningStar Renewal Center. The Holy Hour service included a candlelight procession with the Blessed Sacrament from the main sanctuary at neighboring parish, St. Louis, onto the grounds of the renewal center. Auxiliary Bishop Estevez of Miami led the evening which was celebrated bilingually

.


First Retreat - June 10-12th, 2004 - St. Louis Men's Emmaus Since the very first Emmaus was held on these same grounds over 20 years ago, MorningStar was happy to have its very first hosted retreat be within the Emmaus family. The retreat bought over 60 men together for the entire weekend. For more information on Emmaus visit emmausradio.org

 



First Volunteer Orientation a Success! - July 25th, 2004

Over 70 people came to see how a little bit of their time volunteering can make a major impact on the life of a retreatant!

After an overview of the many opportunities for service was given by Cathy and Sue, attendees eagerly signed up to offer their gifts as table servers, dishwashers, musicians, trained sacristans and on the men's special project team.
