Greetings
of Peace and Joy!
The month of May is a celebratory month...
filled with 1st communions, confirmations, graduations, and
of course, Mother's Day! It is also a significant month
is the life of MorningStar.
This May, MorningStar celebrates
it's fourth Anniversary as the spiritual renewal center for
the Archdiocese of Miami!
As many of you know, we
have come quite a long way in those 4 years with so much and
so many to be thankful for. Check out some highlights
of the past 4 years below as well as some of the exciting
upcoming events including details on MorningStar getting a
"new look" this summer.
So
with all the opportunities that May offers to celebrate, we
hope to see you here, at MorningStar, this month. Come
see how we've grown!

MorningStar
Celebrates 4 Years of Ministry!
May
2004 -- The Dominican Retreat House is acquired by
the Archdiocese of Miami through the leadership of
Fr. James Fetscher of St. Louis Church and a small group
of dedicated lay people.
June
2004 -- the Feast of Corpus Christi -- The newly named
MorningStar has it's inauguaral event -- a candlelight
procession of the Blessed Sacrament and the rededication
of the land lead by Bishop Estevez.
1st
year -- Parish and School groups start to be hosted
beginning with Emmaus and Youth Encounters. MorningStar's
own programming for adult faith formation begins.
2nd
year -- MorningStar begins to bloom with weekends
scheduled a year in advance and weekday programs growing
in number. The growth calls for the initiation
of Capital Campaign effort for renovation and expansion.
3rd
year -- Growth continues as MorningStar welcomed approximately
5000 retreatants who participated in 100 different
spiritual programs 6 -7 days a week throughout the
year.
4th
year -- MorningStar reaches goal for Phase
1 of capital campaign. Renovation of both buildings
and an expansion of capacity from 65 beds to 80 by
the end of Summer 2008.

Notes

The St. Louis Men's Emmaus Team has scheduled a
Service Day at MorningStar on May 17th.
The group will be working to beautify the garden areas
of MorningStar.
-
If your group or ministry is interested
in building community by serving, we'd love to connect
you to a service project. Join us on Sat., May 10 or Sat.,
May 24th for a work day at MorningStar. Contact

Extend the Light
Capital Campaign Update
|

- Phase I construction/re-modeling
has begun, initiating the renovation and remodeling MorningStar!
Thanks be to God for the many generous people who contributed
to the over $350,000 raised for this phase work.
- Complete make-over
and expansion of the dorms to begin this month and be completed
(hopefully!) by the end of the summer.
- Dorm expansion
will increase our overnight capacity to 80 beds.
- We are still actively
raising funds and accepting contributions for new sheets, bedspreads,
and a new commerical washer and dryer. Visit our Wish

Focus
on Missions
The month of May
we designate to learning and connecting to the larger body of
Christ throughout the world through the eyes and experiences
of missionaries. A look into missionary life in China,
Africa, the Holy Land, and missions right here in Miami.
Evening presentations will include simple themed dinner and
presentation. Fee: $15 per session / $50 for all four. 4

2 days set aside for volunteers who will help us with interior
painting and exterior gardening projects and more from our "honey-do"

MorningStar's celebrates
the Archdiocese's Jubilee Year with a a day
of retreat: "We are the body of Christ."
The retreat will celebrate and explore the call
to "be" the body of Christ in the world today.
Program will include variety of speakers and presentations, time
for personal prayer, and will conclude with Mass celebrated
by Bishop John Noonan followed by lunch. Fee: $30 pp. Thurs.,
