The Seventh Story

Shared by Gonzalo Lauria

Today Gonzalo shared this book about the Seventh Story by Brian Mc. Laren, he closed with this beautiful poem from the book:

Six old stories, whenever we go, the same six stories

are running the show, the story...

of power to dominate,

of striking back with fury and hate,

of pointing at others to shame and disgrace,

of running and hiding to find a safe place,

of being stuck in self-pity for the pain we've been through,

of me having more shiny objects than you.

The same six old stories steal freedom and laughter,

so nobody lives happily ever after.

There's a new Seventh Story to live by, my friends,

a story that doesn't turn Us against Them...

of working for fairness in all that we do,

of not striking back when others strike you,

of facing our problems, not running to hide,

of not letting differences make us divide,

of growing through pain to compassion for others,

of not wanting more than our sisters and brothers.

The new Seventh Story I'm singing of is the story of peace....

and the hero is LOVE!

Lenten Cafecito- Surrender

Shared by Dyhanara

Lent. noun. 'lent. :

a period of fasting and regret for one's sins that is observed on the 40 weekdays from Ash Wednesday to Easter by many churches. Lenten.

For Lent, the Church gives us aln1ost a slogan-Prayer, Fasting, and Almsgiving-as the three things we need to work on during the season.

Millions of people do this during Lent as a sign of sacrifice and to test their self-discipline. Christians believe that this is to represent Jesus Christ's sacrifice ,when he went into the desert to pray and fast for the 40 days before later dying on the cross.

How do I surrender to God completely?

7 Steps To Surrender Your Life To God.

1. When you surrender, you feel guided, inspired, and empowered. ...

2.       Surrender to God through prayer. ...

3.      Be mindful of your thoughts. ...

4.    Having faith and trusting completely in God. ...

5.      Letting go of the need to control. ...

6.       Spend time in nature. ...

7.      Journal your journey. ...

How is Jesus present in our daily living?

First of all, Jesus gives us a spirit of wisdom and enlightens our eyes to see the hope to which we are called (Eph 1:15-23). He is present when two or three are gathered in his name (Mt 18:19-20). Jesus strengthens us inwardly by the power of his Spirit and does more in us than we can ask or imagine (Eph 3:14-21). With his Abba and the Spirit, he makes his home with us (Jn 14:23) and nourishes us as the vine nourishes the branches so that he helps us to bear fruit more abundantly (Jn 15:1-17). Our response to this presence is to live a life of faith (Lk 17:5-6) like our ancestors did (Heb 11) and to live a life of good deeds

which is characterized by the experience of the beatitudes (Mt 5:3-12). Our daily living should manifest Jesus' attitude towards others (Phil 2:1-11). Our activities are the sign of his presence and love within us (Jas 2:14-26)

Jesus as risen Lord is the image of the invisible God and is present in all things and all the experiences of life (Col 1:15-20). Thus, like his Abba, he continually works for and in us (Jn 5:17,19-20). Without his work in our life, we cannot bear fruit (Jn 15:4-8). He is with us always, even to the end of time (Mt 28:20). God's power is at work even when we seem weak and helpless (2Cor 12:7-10). Because God loves us first, we are called to love others in deed and truth (1Jn 4:7-5:5; 1Jn 3:18). In Jesus the risen Lord, we are given life and are chosen like Peter and Paul themselves to confound the wise (1Cor 1:26-2:5).

Through the power of the Spirit, we are a people Jesus claims as his own (1Pet 2:9). Built together as parts of a new building (Eph 2:19-22) and as members of one body (Rom 12:4-5), we are knit together in unity with a diversity of gifts (1Cor 12:4-7). Hence when we cooperate with each other as one body, Jesus is in our midst (Mt 18:19-20), and the cooperative decisions that we make with respectful care for each other are influenced by Jesus' Spirit (Jn 14:26). Thus we are more likely to bear much fruit (Jn 15:5).

Prayer during a Moment of Transition

Mother composed this prayer in the year 2000 for sisters about to take their solemn vows and progress in their religious life. But it applies to anyone who finds themselves in transition. Lord Jesus, it has been a long time arriving at this special day. Years have passed, crosses have been borne, doubts have been conquered, temptations fought. The years that at times seem so long, have at last come to fruition. Your Providence led the way, Your Compassion made the path, Your Mercy carried me through and at last, I have arrived, at this day of all days. Bring to my mind, Sweet Lord of my Heart, all that I have learned, fought for, and conquered, so that the rest of my life I may ever remember Your Love and carry out Your Will, lovingly and cheerfully, to the end of my days.

Thank You for Your Grace and let me ever be Your faithful disciple. Amen.

“Jesus stepped into a boat, crossed over and came to his own town. Some men brought to him a paralyzed man, lying on a mat. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the man, ‘Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven.’ At this, some of the teachers of the law said to themselves, ‘This fellow is blaspheming!’ Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said, ‘Why do you entertain evil thoughts in your hearts? Which is easier: to say, “Your sins are forgiven,” or to say, “Get up and walk”? But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.’ So he said to the paralyzed man, ‘Get up, take your mat and go home.’ Then the man got up and went home. When the crowd saw this, they were filled with awe; and they praised God, who had given such authority to man.”

Matthew 9:1-8 NIV

Dear God,

Today as we add an extra day to the calendar on Leap Day to realign our lives to the rhythms of time you established in the solar year, help us to see the corrections we need to personally make to realign ourselves with you.

We recall how in-tune Jesus was to your timeline for his life as he repeatedly told his disciples, “My time has not yet come.”

Reveal to us today the miscalculations we have made in your timing for our lives.

Show us where we have hesitated too long and not acted quickly enough.

Open our eyes to the times we have jumped into action before waiting for your direction.

Help us keep in mind how even small deviations can add up over time to put us completely out of sync with your plan for our lives.

On Leap Day and Leap Year, help us leap forward by depending on You daily for guidance and help.

Amen.
